What Montessori program does Mountain Brook use?
Our Christian-based program is based on the needs of the individual child, our mission being to teach children when they are ready to learn. We believe in the whole child - helping him/her to develop spiritually, morally, physically, psychologically, and academically.
Our school is open to children of all faiths. Using the Montessori Method of education allows a child to explore in a physical way, the different areas of the classroom.
Hands-on lessons are given using specific pieces of equipment to help a child develop skills in math, language and many other core studies. Individual lessons give children the one on one attention and direction they need while group lessons provide them the opportunity to learn from and be an example to their peers. Even more importantly, our emphasis is on teaching children values: responsible behavior, concern for others, respect for authority, trustworthiness and fair play.
Our lead teachers are credentialed and our support teachers and staff have all undergone training in Montessori methods. Each member of our staff is unique and is part of a synergistic team of teachers and leaders that will provide your child with the environment, attention and direction he or she needs in order to grow.
We are blessed to be able to offer a spiritually based, academically sound curriculum as we strive to empower children to learn all they are capable of learning.
